Tun Tavern, birthplace of the Marines, to be reconstructed in Old City

Philadelphia's Tun Tavern will be rebuilt as a restaurant and historical exhibit in Old City to honor its history as the place where the U.S. Marine Corps, a masonic lodge and several other organizations were founded during the colonial era. A parking lot at 19 S. Second St. has been acquired by the project's leaders, who are now fundraising with a goal to begin construction in November.
