The country's finances are slipping significantly at the beginning of the year. The key question: how big will the budget deficit be in 2024?

By 2024, government spending in Romania should exceed revenue from taxes, taxes, contributions and other state budget income by nearly 5% of GDP. However, according to official talks with Brussels, Romania should have returned to a 3% GDP budget deficit in 2024, as it is the only EU country in the excessive deficit procedure.
