Mayor blames Eastern Cape migrants for Durban’s decay

eThekwini mayor Mxolisi Kaunda caused a stir on social media when he said some Eastern Cape municipalities would need to surrender some of their budgets to Durban for infrastructural maintenance. Kaunda told a water and sanitation students’ conference at the Durban ICC on Wednesday that the migration of Eastern Cape residents to Durban was having a negative impact on its budget for infrastructure maintenance.
