Lost Little Chef roadside restaurants were a 'rare holiday treat'

The first Little Chef opened in 1958 on Oxford Road in Reading and had just 11 seats. The 1970s saw massive expansion and growth of the restaurant chain throughout the UK. At its peak, their were 439 Little Chefs dotted along Britain's motorways and A-roads but now, sadly, there are none.
