Statistics Canada said on Tuesday (April 16) that in March, the annual inflation rate rose slightly to 2.9%, slightly higher than February's 2.8%, driven by a 4.5% year-on-year increase in gasoline prices, but that the March core inflation rate continued to fall, increasing the likelihood that the Canadian Central Bank would cut interest rates in June.
