All Virginia drivers must have insurance by July 1; uninsured driver program ending

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- All Virginia drivers will be required to have vehicle insurance starting on July 1, ending the Uninsured Motorists Fund. Currently, Virginia drivers are able to register and drive a vehicle uninsured, as long as they pay a $500 fee at the time of registration.
