A shadowy Russian hacktivist group was linked to a cyberattack that caused a Texas town's water system to overflow in January, part of a series of attacks on small towns in the area.
The attack in Muleshoe, affecting around 5,000 residents, led to the water system overflowing before officials manually intervened to shut it down.
Mandiant, a U.S. Cybersecurity firm, connected one of the attacks to the Russian group CyberArmyofRussia_Reborn, which claimed responsibility for similar water facility attacks in the U.S. And Poland.
